Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and creative Web Developer to provide ongoing updates and improvements to our Wix website. In this role, you will be responsible for both design enhancements and technical updates, ensuring that the site remains visually appealing, user-friendly, and functionally efficient. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both web design and development, capable of managing all aspects of the site, from aesthetic adjustments to implementing new features and functionalities. Software engineering knowledge, particularly in troubleshooting and debugging, would be a significant advantage. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about web development and eager to contribute to a mission-driven initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing updates and improvements to the Book Bytes website built on Wix, ensuring it remains visually appealing and user-friendly.
  • Implement design enhancements and technical updates to improve site functionality and user experience.
  • Collaborate with the content and design teams to ensure that new content and visual elements are integrated seamlessly into the website.
  • Manage all aspects of the site, from aesthetic adjustments (e.g., layout, colors, typography) to implementing new features and functionalities.
  • Optimize the website for performance, ensuring fast loading times and smooth navigation.
  • Monitor website performance and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Apply software engineering knowledge to troubleshoot and debug more complex issues, ensuring the website runs smoothly.
  • Stay updated on Wix’s latest features and tools, integrating them into the site where relevant.
  • Provide recommendations for further improvements and updates to enhance user engagement and overall website functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Web Developer, with a strong portfolio showcasing experience working with Wix or similar website-building platforms.
  • Strong understanding of web design principles, with a keen eye for aesthetics and user experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in customizing Wix templates and functionalities.
  • Software engineering knowledge, particularly in troubleshooting and debugging, is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in implementing new features and functionalities on websites, including third-party integrations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple website updates and tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with content creators, designers, and other team members.
  • Passion for children’s literacy, education, and making a positive impact.
