Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Legal Advisor with expertise in non-profit law to join our team. In this role, you will provide legal guidance on matters related to non-profit operations, ensuring that Book Bytes: Tales That Spark complies with South African law and other relevant regulations. We welcome applicants from anywhere in the world, as long as they have or are willing to acquire the necessary knowledge of South African non-profit law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on matters related to non-profit operations, governance, and compliance.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on South African laws and regulations affecting non-profits.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with all legal requirements for non-profits in South Africa.
  • Advise on potential legal risks and how to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure legal considerations are integrated into strategic planning.
  • Support in the registration process, if applicable, and ongoing compliance for the non-profit organization.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in law with a focus on non-profit or corporate law.
  • Knowledge of South African non-profit law is preferred, or a strong willingness to research and acquire this knowledge.
  • Experience in providing legal advice to non-profits or similar organizations.
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide clear, practical legal guidance.
  • Passion for children’s literacy, education, and making a positive impact.
