Do you love cats, dogs, and cool people? Ruff Haven is seeking a Board Treasurer! This is a volunteer position with a 3-year term. We have an engaged, fun, supportive team that is passionate about making a difference in the lives of community pet owners.

Board Treasurer Description

Position Function & Organizational Impact:

• Provide financial oversight and expertise for Ruff Haven

• Serves as the financial liaison between staff and board members

Core responsibilities:

• Stay informed of Ruff Haven’s finances, including bank account statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, reconciliation reports, and expense reports

• Work closely with Ruff Haven’s bookkeeper/accounting firm to prepare reports and ensure compliance with all finance laws and requirements, 990 filings, and other financial documents.

• Create the annual operating budget and specific budgets for programming needs.

• Assist with developing financial policies, which may include a gift acceptance policy, an expense reimbursement policy, a compensation policy, and other policies as needed.

• Identify and execute a risk management plan as needed

• Assist with any required financial audits, which may include researching and selecting an auditor, gathering materials for the audit, and reviewing and implementing audit recommendations

• Chair any finance or audit committees

• Participate in Board meetings as a voting member

• Actively participate in the Facebook leadership group or email discussions
