Fairfield County Park District is constantly battling to maintain desirable native plants in our parks. Both in pollinator gardens and off-trail throughout the parks we could use help maintaining native species. Native plants provide provide year-round benefits such as habitat and food for animals. Sign up to help maintain gardens, the forest landscapes, or both!

Potential activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manually removing by pulling, sawing, or clipping plants.
  • Routine inspection for and removal of undesirable vegetation in pollinator gardens and along trails.
  • Maintaining aesthetic appeal of pollinator gardens.

There are no qualifications necessary to become an FCPD Natural Resource Volunteer aside from possessing a great attitude, passion for the outdoors, and a willingness to get down and dirty outside. Training on plant ID will be provided to interested volunteers. Volunteers may be exposed to inclement weather, biting insects, noxious plants, and other risks associated with being in an outdoor setting.

All Fairfield County Park District volunteers are subject to a background check prior to
beginning volunteer activities. Reach out to volunteer@fairfieldcountyparks.org with questions or to find the application visit https://www.fairfieldcountyparks.org/get-involved/volunteer/!
