Mission Bay Flotilla
Flotilla 1-5 serves the San Diego region including Mission Bay and San Diego Bay. We have been called out to support other areas including the Colorado River. Flotilla meetings are held at Mission Bay (Marina Village) in San Diego. Our main activities include vessel safety checks and radio watch standing.
While this volunteer opportunity is aimed at recruiting new members for the Mission Bay flotilla, it is important to realize that once you are trained, there are very many opportunities to volunteer either at a flotilla, division, or even national level.
Watch the video below for an introduction to the range of the volunteer opportunities within the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Mission Statement
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary, formed in 1939, is a uniformed organization that supports the active duty US Coast Guard and serves the public as unpaid volunteers. Our main mission is boating safety and we also augment the active duty US Coast Guard in many of their missions. Unlike our active duty partners, we cannot be deployed and do not undertake law enforcement activities. The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. We balance our missions of Recreational Boating Safety and Coast Guard Support with Maritime Homeland Security and other challenges that emerge as a result of our growing understanding of changes required in the post-9/11 era.
Description
Our Flotilla (114-01-05) is one of three flotillas in San Diego, comprised of over 30 members from all over San Diego County.
The Auxiliary has something for everyone. Our volunteers put in as much time as they like. The more you put in the more rewarding volunteering in the Auxiliary becomes!
Members do not have to own boats or even have an interest in ever being on the water. There are many ways you can volunteer and make a difference. Whether you're interested in public education, public affairs, boating, search and rescue, radio, administrative duties, or just being part of Homeland Security we have something for you.
