Volunteer Description
The Post Adoption Support Volunteer follows up with adopters to encourage happy tails success stories, provide support and resources to keep adopted animals in their new homes and notifies Pet Haven Division Managers if adopter needs more support
Time Commitment: 4 hours/week
Responsibilities
Contact the adopter within 48 hours of the adoption agreement (phone or email) and checkin on how things are going
May provide resources to training or refer behavior support
Receives feedback on how the adoption process was for the adopter
Shares information with the Division Manager and Operations Director, if needed
Contacts the adopter on the 7th day of the adoption
Invites adopter to join the Facebook alumni group
Requests that adopter complete a review of Pet Haven (on Facebook or Google)
Cultivates relationships with adopters as possible future fosters, adopters, volunteers or donors
Ensures feedback and notes are shared with the appopriate division manager and operations as needed
Send happy updates (w/photo) to social media volunteer to post on social channels and add to Pet Haven’s blog (with adopter’s permission)
When needed; notify the Return Coordinator of a potential return and ask them to provide support
Other responsibilities, as needed, to facilitate and improve the adoption experience

Pet Haven Inc. of Minnesota [a 501(c)(3) charitable organization] rescues and re-homes cats and dogs, spays and neuters to reduce overpopulation, promotes responsible guardianship through educational programs, and advocates on behalf of companion animals.
Description
Pet Haven operates an adoption program for homeless cats and dogs. We use a network of volunteer foster homes to care for the animals in our adoption program. The cats and dogs receive thorough veterinary care including a spay/neuter, their needs are assessed by the foster homes, and then suitable permanent homes are found for them. Pet Haven carefully screens all adoptive homes and charges adoption fees for the cats and dogs placed through our program.
Pet Haven was founded in 1952. We are an all-volunteer organization. We do not have a shelter. All animals are cared for in our foster homes. We are a limited admission foster-based rescue and actively promote spaying & neutering to reduce companion animal overpopulation.Pet Haven Inc. of Minnesota's vision is to be a rewarding place to volunteer, to find a quality home for each animal, to encourage a community of responsible companion animal guardians, to eliminate the community's need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and to encourage a society where animals become more valued.
