The Adult Education program is in need of classroom assistants during our in-person ESL classes at 1537 Alton Street, Aurora, CO. Classroom assistants are available during ESL class times to assist the teacher with groups of learners, provide one-on-one student assistance, and other needs as requested by the instructor.
Teachers will prepare lessons, volunteers will not be expected to do this. Classroom assistants must be willing to be flexible and able to move through a variety of directed tasks. You will never be expected to "teach" or be an expert at grammar! Only to facilitate small ratios of teacher-to-student in the prepared activities.
Currently, we need classroom assistants who are available during any of the days/times below:
Monday-Thursday 9:00-11:30am (online and in person)
Monday-Thursday 12:00-2:30pm (online and in person)
We ask that all volunteers be available for at least one (2.5 hour) class per week for the duration/remainder of one 13 week trimester. All volunteers must be extremely patient and flexible when working with our wonderful learners.

Description
Aurora Youth Options (AYO) is the youth prevention team of Aurora Mental Health & Recovery. AYO works with middle and high-school-aged youth and their families, helping young people gain life skills and confidence for personal success and happiness. AYO assesses each individual youth to determine what resources would be best, offer support and make the connection.
Referrals include mentoring, existing community resources, pro-social activities or enhancing life skill-building.
Nearly half the young people between the ages of 10 and 18 live in challenging situations that put them at risk of not living up to their potential. They need a listening ear and gentle guidance that can turn a negative situation into a life lesson.
Our staff, volunteers, and mentors nurture and help young people grow their personal and professional skills leading to greater happiness and a better outlook as they come into adulthood
