It takes a community to welcome new arrivals to Iowa. We are stronger together! Much of our work with newly resettled individuals and families is led by LSI staff; however we need the support of volunteers to organize donations, set up apartments, and more.
Because needs change weekly depending on arrivals, donations, when landlords release keys, etc, we send an update about once per week with upcoming shifts for volunteers to sign up for. Activities that don't require confidential client information, like organizing in-kind donations, can be done by anyone. Activities that do require client information or contact, like apartment set ups or driving clients, require a background check and orientation before starting.
