Are you nestled in or near St. Charles (or Kane County) and have a heart full of compassion and a knack for organization? Aunt Mary's Storybook Project is on a quest for a special remote (volunteering from home) person - and that could be you! Join us as we weave a tapestry of love and connection between incarcerated individuals and their cherished young ones.
Your Magical Role in the Storybook Project:
- Data Wizardry: Transform handwritten forms into digital treasures by entering information into our web application.
- Database Detective: Dive into publicly accessible databases, extracting vital information to bring our stories to life.
- Audio Alchemist: Upload heartwarming audio files made by incarcerated people, turning spoken words into golden memories.
- Parcel Preparer: Carefully package books, readying them for their journey to eager young minds.
- Letter Scribe: Print and include a welcoming letter in each package, adding a personal touch of care.
- Supply Gatherer: Occasionally meet with us to collect the tools needed for your mission. (Otherwise, this volunteer activity is performed from your home.)

Companions Journeying Together, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides a forum to personally impact the emotional, spiritual, and social lives of the incarcerated and their families. Our vision is for a society that lives by the principles of restorative justice.
Description
Companions Journeying Together provides programs of compassion for incarcerated people & their families in Illinois. We are perhaps most well known for our Aunt Mary's Storybook program which connects people in custody with the children most important to them through reading and literacy. We also coordinate pen-pal groups and facilitate Christmas Cards, Mother's Day Cards, and Birthday Cards for justice-involved people.
