Newsletter Writer - Virtual Volunteer Position

Dallas Pets Alive! is a highly respected animal rescue organization and provides the perfect place to utilize your skills to grow personally and professionally. Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas - and volunteers make our mission a reality.

As our Newsletter Writer, you’ll play an important role in crafting informative content about DPA pets and programs. We're looking for someone with a genuine love for animals and a talent for storytelling.

Team: Marketing

Location: Virtual

Time Commitment: Between 6-15 Hours a week

Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.

Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with DPA leadership on ideas and topics for newsletters and email marketing
• Writing content that is engaging for DPA followers and appealing to our audience
• Designing related images to accompany written copy and/or oversee an additional volunteer who has this responsibility
• Analyzing results of newsletters/email blasts to be applied to future newsletters
• Sending periodic targeted email blasts on specific topics, such as relating to a large upcoming event, fundraiser or appeal

Skills and Qualifications best suited for this position:

• Proven experience as a writer, with a portfolio showcasing your writing skills and ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Passion for animals and a deep understanding of animal behavior, welfare, and care.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engines and increase organic traffic.
• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Proficiency with Gmail and G-Suite applications
• Fluency in English; bilingual a plus!
• Ability to operate a computer or mobile device
• The following activities are required:
• Ability to operate a computer and/or mobile device.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
• The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

• Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare.
