Do you love to brighten someone's day--and have them brighten yours?! Join Affinity's dynamic hospice team as a volunteer supporting folks with life-limiting illness. You might chat with someone, hold a hand, or take them outside for some sun and fresh air. Perhaps you'll play their favorite music or use virtual reality to take them fishing! Do you like to walk the dog or give respite at home so that a caregiver can take a break? Are you drawn to sitting quietly with intention at the bedside of someone who has no family? There are so many ways that you can make a life-changing difference! You have so much to offer and you will receive so much more. Come and see!!
Affinity Care of Maine will be training a new group of compassionate people to provide companionship and socialization to patients and families. A free 21-hour training program will be offered in the South Portland office at a time that is mutually convenient. Background checks, interviews, annual TB tests and proof of vaccinations are required.
For more information, please contact Donna Teague, Volunteer Coordinator, at 207-870-7779 or dteague@affinitymaine.com.

Mission Statement
Affinity Care Hospice's mission is to provide patients with life-limiting illness the support and care they require to live their lives comfortably. Our team is dedicated to helping patients and families maintain dignity and quality of life. We believe that hospice care should be available to any and all persons with an illness for which there is no cure or for the persons who elect not to attempt a cure, resulting in a limited life expectancy. Affinity's goal is to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort to those in our care. We strive to empower the patient and family by providing them with the tools, information and support they need to make informed decisions. We provide ongoing support for family and friends for as long as it is needed.
Description
