We are searching for an engaged and motivated individual to serve as our organization’s Event Chair to
lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our chapter’s hosted/co-hosted events, partner
events, and client/volunteer appreciation and/or networking events. This position is responsible for
every part of hosted/co-hosted events and a portion of partner event preparations, from choosing
venues, approving menus, enabling digital event registration and marketing, event sponsors, marshaling
external and internal (score) resources, and evaluating success afterward.
Working cross-functionally with many leaders in the chapter’s Executive Committee is an essential success factor (e.g., Outreach, Marketing, finance, DEI, Racine/Kenosha Branch). The Event Chair will be a member of the chapter’s leadership team and is expected to attend monthly leadership meetings, and monthly chapter meetings in addition to leading and building an Events Committee.
Events are one of our primary drivers (with workshops) of gaining new SCORE clients and are essential to achieving our mission of building vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. We deliver events and workshops with existing partners vs. doing them ourselves, with a focus on our local partners who are part of our underserved communities.
Responsibilities:
● Maintain a master event calendar, and maintain event postings on the chapter calendar
● Identify the requirements and expectations for each event starting first with the partner liaison,
then with the partner directly (works with existing partners)
● Collaborate with the Marketing team to effectively promote events including requesting event
registration when needed with the exception of chapter branches who will work directly with
marketing for their branch events
● Liaise with Chapter members, partners, vendors, and stakeholders during the event planning
process to ensure everything is in order
● Marshal volunteer support for each event as appropriate with the exception of Chapter
branches, who will marshal volunteer support for branch-specific events
● Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes with the exception of Chapter
branches who will lead the set-up, tear-down, and follow-up processes
● Maintain event budgets, book venues, entertainers, photographers, and schedule speakers
● Liaise with the Education team to identify/vet SCORE speakers
● Assess an event’s overall success and submit findings including event summaries to be shared
with partner liaisons, Exec. Committee, involved partners
SCORE provides resources for free, or at minimal cost, to help small business owners expand and grow

community by helping to build our team of experienced business mentors who in turn assist small
businesses. If you want to give back to your community by supporting small businesses, this is a great
opportunity. Schedule your volunteer time according to your schedule, committing ~4 hours per week.
