Hub for Spoken English (HSE), ConnectPlus' tutoring program is offering a unique opportunity to teach a group online class! As a HSE Humanities Intern, you'll teach one of our HSE Humanities classes: meeting with students every weekend about a topic of your choice. Past classes have included World Human Geography, Media and Marketing, and Intro to Linguistics!

Intern Tutor Requirements
1. The tutor will design and teach an online writing course based on a humanities subject. The tutor will teach 1 to 2 classes each weekend for a duration of 1 to 2 months.
2. The tutor must be relatively informed about the subject. For example, the tutor should have taken at least one academic course on the subject.
3. The tutor will write a brief course proposal to be submitted two to three weeks prior to the start of the course. HSE will provide the course proposal template.
4. The tutor reserves the right to decide the class format. However, assessment should be primarily based on writing.
5. After the end of the course, the tutor will write an individual comment on each student’s performance and English level.

ConnectPlus aims to make English education accessible worldwide through the provision of free, interactive English lessons to all who desire it. Through interaction with a network of purely volunteer tutors who aim to create equitable, immersive, and approachable class environments, students can learn practical English not taught in traditional classrooms, and in doing so are empowered in more positively contributing to the wellbeing of their communities and the world as a whole.
Description
ConnectPlus is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Virginia in the United States, founded in March 2020 by a group of high school and college students. We seek to make high-quality English education easily accessible to all. Since 2020, ConnectPlus has recruited 500+ tutors worldwide and taught 600+ students across China, logging 10,000+ hours of English instruction.
HSE is ConnectPlus' English-tutoring branch. HSE is happy to provide verification of volunteer hours (for community service requirements), volunteer certificates, and recommendations. Volunteering experiences with HSE can also be submitted as part of resumes for college and job applications.
