ConnectPlus is currently seeking 2 qualified and motivated curriculum designers for our various tutoring programs, including HSE English and our Tangbaobao (TBB) program for individuals with Down Syndrome. As ConnectPlus' curriculum designer, you’ll be tasked with crafting materials for a variety of ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring programs. Materials you’ll be asked to design range from lists of conversation starters for our 1 on 1 lessons with more advanced English learners, to engaging slideshows containing basic English vocabulary for lessons with special needs children. Volunteer Requirements Have prior experience in either teaching or curriculum design; Have strong written English, analytical, and interpersonal skills. This is a great opportunity to help expand English education to those currently unable to access it, and make a large and meaningful impact while also gaining deep hands-on curricular design experience. ConnectPlus is dedicated to making English-learning opportunities available for everyone, including people with special needs. The TBB (Tangbaobao) Program is specifically designed for children with Down’s Syndrome. Program Setting Tutors will give students one-on-one classes on Tencent Meeting; Each class lasts for 45 minutes long; Class discussions will be based on HSE’s TBB Class Materials; After class, tutors will send to the student a comment and a vocab list. Volunteer Requirements Are native/proficient/advanced English speakers; Are native/proficient/advanced Chinese speakers; (If in China) have VPN and access to Google; Are able to maintain a minimum weekly commitment of one 45-minute lesson and 15 minutes for preparation and after-class feedback. Preferred Qualifications Experiences in English teaching (formal and informal); Any degrees in an English or education-related field. High school student or older. For reference only: CEFR B2+; TOEFL 80+; IELTS 6+. Once you are paired with your student, you will only be working with that TBB student. ConnectPlus will provide you with a volunteer certificate when you need it or if you leave the program. Volunteering experiences at ConnectPlus can also be listed on college applications under activity lists or on resumes for other purposes.

We’re ConnectPlus, a volunteering and tutoring organization based in Virginia that seeks to make the world a better place by making English tutoring easily accessible to all. Come join our team as a tutor today by signing up below! You'll be paired with an aspiring English learner from China for two 45-minute sessions every week. ConnectPlus Description ConnectPlus was founded in March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19, by a group of high school and college students who wanted to create a positive outlet for individuals in either teaching or learning English amidst those difficult times. Since our establishment, we’ve recruited 500+ tutors worldwide and taught 600+ students across China, logging 10k+ hours of free English instruction. Hub for Spoken English (HSE) is ConnectPlus' English tutoring branch. HSE's lessons allow many students who would not otherwise have the means to gain valuable English instruction. Our volunteer tutors teach 1 student at a time, using a specially designed curriculum that focuses on developing conversational abilities instead of rote memorization of vocabulary or grammar to help students gain the fluency needed to truly become global citizens. As a graphic designer for ConnectPlus, you’ll be tasked with creating 1-2 promotional graphics per week to promote the organization. Possible graphic design jobs may range from layouts for articles on our WeChat official accounts, to recruitment ads for students and tutors, to layouts for internal handbooks and materials. Volunteer Requirements Knowledge of how to use various graphic design softwares; Strong English or Chinese skills; Ability to make engaging content. Preferred Qualifications Graphic design experiences.
