Do you enjoy making someone smile? Are you a good listener? Compassus Hospice is seeking caring and friendly volunteers to provide companionship to our patients in Knox County, Indiana. Our patients live in their personal home or in a facility.
Volunteers will visit with hospice patients to provide companionship and may do activities such as: talking, reminiscing/ life review, reading, playing cards, playing a board game, coloring, looking at photos, planting plants, running errands, listening to music, taking a walk, watching a movie, walking the dog, helping the patient write in a journal, providing caregiver relief and more. Our patients and caregivers appreciate the time you share!
If you have a special talent such as music or art to share, we welcome it. We also welcome Veterans to provide companionship to patients who Veterans and registered Pet Therapy teams.
Volunteers do not provide personal care such as bathing or toileting. Volunteers simply provide companionship and smiles! Our volunteers find volunteering with our patients extremely rewarding, and repeatedly we hear how much our patients enjoy the company of volunteers.
