Back Up Team Leader - Wednesday Food Distribution

ORGANIZATION: OSSINING FOOD PANTRY

Wednesday evening is our largest food distribution where we typically serve over 250 families. We are looking for a volunteer to partner with the current Team Leader to provide additional support and back up, as needed.

This program takes place every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 8:15 PM.

Team Leaders responsibilities include:
-Coordinate weekly volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all tasks.
-Oversee the work of over 20+ volunteers.
-P rovide access to the facility for the volunteers.
- Work with both volunteers and community clients throughout the evening to troubleshoot issues in real time.
- Assist with computer check in procedures.
-Assist at food stations as needed to restock tables, assist clients in food selection, etc.).
-Ensure equitable allocation of food supplies, particularly limited or low stock items (eg. fresh fruit/vegetables, eggs, meat, baked goods) based on weekly availability.
-Introduce and train new volunteers to Pantry procedures.
-Supervise and provide attestation of service hours for community service volunteers.
-Facilitate tidying up at evenings' end to then close and lock up the facility.

The Ossining Food Pantry, founded in 1988, is 100% staffed by volunteers. Our mission is to help eliminate food insecurity in our community. We serve people in need from Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, and Scarborough.

Description

Today we help approximately 350 families each week through a range of services including Choice Pantry food distributions, deliveries to homebound clients and agencies, and a Mobile Food Pantry, cosponsored with Star of Bethlehem Church and Feeding Westchester.

  • Must be at least 18
  • About 5 hours each week
