Kline Galland Hospice works with patients of all backgrounds and many are looking for volunteers who can read or speak in their preferred language. Make a difference in the lives of patients and families by sharing your gifts.

Come join our team! Volunteers are an essential part of our Kline Galland Hospice dynamic interdisciplinary team (of nurses, doctors, spiritual care providers, social workers, hospice aides and volunteers). Our Patient Care Hospice volunteers help to provide support and comfort to our hospice patients and families, by visiting them in-home or in-facility. Our Administrative Hospice volunteers offer in-office support to our leadership and administrative staff. Our Bereavement Hospice volunteers offer in-office support to our bereavement coordinator and grief counselors in mailings, bereaved family outreach, and memorial service support.

Kline Galland is recognized as a leader in hospice and home health services throughout Seattle/King County, Washington. We strive to improve the quality of life for our patients and families through the delivery of compassionate care, clinical excellence, and extraordinary service.

Our hospice volunteers may serve in a multitude of ways, including offering patient companionship (such as reading a book, engaging in conversation, actively listening by the bedside, playing card games, singing or holding someone's hand). Volunteers may also provide caregiver/family respite, light household work, engage in arts/crafts activity, and assist the hospice team with special events such as memorial services for our hospice patients and families. Kindred Hospice of Seattle volunteers drive to visit and offer support to hospice patients and families.

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age, pass a background check, interview, 2 step TB test, orientation training and orientation competency test. Qualified candidates must also provide proof of Covid19 vaccination, proof of flu shot or completion of flu shot exemption waiver, driver's license and proof of car insurance (if planning to drive to patient visits or the office). Qualified candidates will have access to a personal laptop or desktop computer, and easeful ability to complete required documentation and communications right after each patient visit.

Open application period and interviews occurring now for upcoming training sessions.
We provide free hospice training, ongoing education and support for our volunteers. We value and nurture our volunteers as essential members of our interdisciplinary team. We seek a diverse volunteer team that reflects our multicultural community. Volunteer trainings occur online, and in our Seward park and Georgetown office locations. Our patients and families are located throughout the Seattle/King County area.

Description

Volunteers are the heart of our Kline Galland community. For over a century, our volunteers have enhanced quality of life and provided greater quality of care to our residents, patients and families. We have a multitude of diverse volunteer opportunities across our organization, be it on our Kline Galland Hospice team or in our facilities: Kline Galland Home & Mary Schwartz Summit.

Kline Galland Hospice serves terminally ill patients and families across the King County and Seattle metro area. Services are provided by a medically directed team of volunteers and professionals who respect and respond to the unique difference of each individual. After the patient's death, hospice care continues in the form of bereavement support for the surviving family to normalize their grief so that they may return to leading full and productive lives. Kline Galland Home (in Seward park, Seattle neighborhood) is recognized as one of the finest skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in the country. We offer three major areas of care: Long-Term Care, Short-Term Care/Rehab, and Memory Care. For all areas of care, our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide a personalized, holistic approach to health and well-being.
Mary Schwartz Summit (in First Hill, Seattle neighborhood) is a welcoming community that offers retirement living services. The Summit offers a variety of floor plans, events and activities, and a supportive environment that embraces Jewish culture.
