Mission Statement

Over a century ago, Caroline Kline Galland set out to change the world of senior care. Today, we’re honored to be recognized as the community’s comprehensive, evolving Single-Source Senior Care Resource. The core values that guide our work are: compassion, respect, excellence, dignity, integrity, and tradition. Our mission is a living commitment, inspired by Jewish values, to provide exceptional senior care by exceptional people...every day, in every way, for every one.

Description

Volunteers are the heart of our Kline Galland community. For over a century, our volunteers have enhanced quality of life and provided greater quality of care to our residents, patients and families. We have a multitude of diverse volunteer opportunities across our organization, be it on our Kline Galland Hospice team or in our facilities: Kline Galland Home & Mary Schwartz Summit.

Kline Galland Hospice serves terminally ill patients and families across the King County and Seattle metro area. Services are provided by a medically directed team of volunteers and professionals who respect and respond to the unique difference of each individual. After the patient's death, hospice care continues in the form of bereavement support for the surviving family to normalize their grief so that they may return to leading full and productive lives. Kline Galland Home (in Seward park, Seattle neighborhood) is recognized as one of the finest skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in the country. We offer three major areas of care: Long-Term Care, Short-Term Care/Rehab, and Memory Care. For all areas of care, our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide a personalized, holistic approach to health and well-being.
Mary Schwartz Summit (in First Hill, Seattle neighborhood) is a welcoming community that offers retirement living services. The Summit offers a variety of floor plans, events and activities, and a supportive environment that embraces Jewish culture.

I love volunteering at Kline-Galland. All of the staff are very kind to the volunteers and to all of the residents. When I walk into the building with my therapy dog there are immediate smiles on so many faces. I very much look forward to seeing everyone each week

I was looking for a volunteer opportunity at the Kline Galland Home. Being a veteran, I was asked to join the Hospice team. This has been an incredible experience for me as I have met a number of interesting people with varied life histories.

I have been a hospice volunteer at various organizations over the years...and Kline Galland Hospice is exceptional in so many ways. Most importantly, in the heartfelt way they show up for patients and their families and in the various kinds of support that is offered at such an important time. I am deeply proud to be a part of such an outstanding place of care and kindness.

Kline Galland has many volunteers to provide support in an array of areas to patients. I have heard many positive interactions between patients and volunteers. Volunteers are provided a comprehensive orientation to prepare for supporting patients.

I have been affiliated with Kline Galland since 2021 after previous association with multiple other hospice agencies. I find Kline Galland to really excel in how much compassion is shown for individuals and families in their care, and it also spills over into how volunteers are valued and treated. THANK YOU!!!

Kline Galland is a wonderful organization to volunteer with, I was a hospice volunteer from 2016-2022 and cannot speak highly enough of my experience and the support that I received from the organization. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with individuals and their loved ones and learned quite a lot about end-of-life care and myself. My experiences volunteering fueled my passion to pursue a career in hospice, one that I get an enormous sense of fulfillment from. I would highly recommend volunteering with Kline Galland in any capacity, and would especially encourage folks interested long-term care and hospice care settings to join the community :)

Kline Galland is an outstanding organization. I have volunteered with Kline Galland for over five years and have been privileged to witness its wonderful nurses, social workers, and chaplains in compassionate action for hospice patients throughout the community. The training for volunteers is excellent. The support for volunteers is also excellent. I can strongly recommend Kline Galland.

I have been volunteering at Kline Galland Hospice visiting hospice patients for almost six months. The volunteer program is very well organized. I went through a lot of useful online and in-person training before I began volunteering. I have gotten feedback and ongoing support. I have flexibility in scheduling my visits so volunteering fits comfortably into my life. I look forward to visits with my hospice patient and have structured my visits around her interests (I bring chihuahua pictures to each visit as my patient loved her chihuahua, Scooby). This volunteering experience is teaching me a great deal about patience and aging and grace.

I've been a Kline Galland hospice volunteer for almost 6 years. This is one of the most meaningful volunteer experiences I've had in a long time. Every patient and family that I've met has added something positive to my life. Whenever I have a question, I am able to ask the hospice team members, and they're more than welcome to help me. I would strongly recommend this volunteer opportunity to anyone who is looking to give back in their community. I believe that with the recent events surrounding COVID and the pandemic, this kind of volunteering is needed now more than ever.
