STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for an hour 15 minute-long session. We offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. In January of 2025, STAIR-Annapolis is excited to announce the addition of a new site to our program. The new site will serve students from AACPS and will be held after school at Four Seasons Elementary School in Gambrills. We are in need of tutors, and substitutes.
Forty five minute Zoom information sessions for New volunteers are regularly scheduled in the Fall and Spring. This information session will be an overview of STAIR and an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our program. Please contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org to learn about the next scheduled session.
Following the information session, there will also be a one-and a half hour curriculum training in early December.
