The Medical Team Hospice is seeking friendly and compassionate individuals to provide companionship and interaction with our patients, and respite for their caregivers and families. Our volunteers are indispensable key members of the Hospice care team. They share their time, talents and interests by providing comfort and support to our patients and their families during the critical time. The Medical Team Hospice provides comprehensive training and orientation to support you in the challenges of working with Hospice patients. If you can give 1-3 hours per week, please join out team!!!!
The role of a volunteer would be to spend quality time with our patients engaging them in conversation and/or activities. A volunteer and patient may do activities together such as: play cards, read books, watch TV/movies, listen to music, go for walks, shopping, paint nails, beauty care, games, arts/crafts and other numerous leisure activities. Our patients enjoy music therapy, art, and pet therapy if available. Also, there are opportunities to help with the facilities' activities/events. Volunteers do not attend to personal care or medical needs, so no skills in these areas are needed.
