About Mentor A Promise:
Mentor A Promise is a non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness for NYC youths and families by providing educational resources and opportunities. We partner with family temporary housing sites, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success.
Each year, Mentor A Promise organizes a Summer Youth Program where participants (18-24 years old) join the organization for 6 week and play a role in the management of the daily tasks and activities of the NGO, this program equips them with valuable professional skills and experiences, helping them build their resumes and gain an edge in their career journeys.
Position Overview:
As a Summer Youth Program Manager, you will play a critical role in implementing, and managing our 6-week summer program for young adults (18-24 years old). Are you a passionate leader with a knack for guiding young people and fostering their growth? Do you have experience managing programs and motivating individuals to achieve their goals? If so, Mentor A Promise has an exciting volunteer opportunity for you!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development:
- Design and implement a program structure to effectively track and record participant progress in assigned tasks.
- Identify and curate opportunities that align with program goals and participant interests.
- Develop clear and achievable tasks that promote skill development and knowledge acquisition.
Participant Management:
- Provide ongoing guidance, support, and coaching to program participants.
- Conduct weekly online meetings with each participant to discuss progress, address concerns, and offer constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
Program Operations:
- Collaborate with program organizers and stakeholders to ensure smooth program execution.
- Monitor overall program progress and make adjustments as needed.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Basic Requirements:
Strong leadership and program management experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for youth development and career readiness.
