We are Mentor a Promise (the "MAP"), a nonprofit organization providing social emotional learning, academic support and mentorship to students residing in temporary housing in NYC. Our Philosophy is supporting our students in their educational journey and help guide them into a successful career path with rewarding life experiences. We need energetic and flexible self-starter to further our growing nonprofit organization. You’re a creative person with a can-do attitude. Be a Mentor and help us understand the challenges our students face on a daily basis and let’s work together to find a solution.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
· Work with our students and guide them on their journey to self-awareness and being more socially aware individuals in and out of the classroom.
· Work in small groups or one-to-one to help our students to increase their competence in core socio-emotional learning skills and responsible decision-making through SEL curriculum and activities.
Academic Support
· Work with our students in identifying their challenges in English.
· Help us inspire our students to imagine and learn to love reading and the English language through literacy and reading books.
· Work with our students in identifying their challenges in math.
· Help us inspire our students to love math by using workbooks and assist with math homework.
· Assist in identifying all academic challenges.
Mentorship
· Work with our students in mentoring and supporting their growth.
· Be a positive role model, advocate, and resource for our students, fostering an environment of inclusivity, empowerment, and mutual support.

Description
We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. We connect students with our mentors for in-person and online programs.
