OVERVIEW: We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated individual to volunteer as a Bookkeeper and Treasurer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to the board of directors or relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.
- Manage cash flow, banking activities, and reconcile bank statements.
- Collaborate with the board of directors to develop financial strategies aligned with the organization's goals.
- Serve as a liaison with external financial partners, vendors, and donors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or relevant certification preferred.
- Proven experience working in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks desired.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.

Description
HSLC has been helping animals since our founding in 1966. HSLC has no paid staff nor a physical facility or shelter; all of our animals are in foster homes, display cages at local pet stores, or in temporary boarding until they are adopted into their furever homes.
Thanks to our volunteers and community support, HSLC helped thousands of animals in 2023:
- Nearly 200 cats and dogs fostered
- Over 200 community cats supported
- Nearly 6,000 animals fed via the Loudoun Pet Pantry
