ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

This U.S. Forest Service volunteer position is an opportunity to live on the National Forest, providing public service while hosting and maintaining the 20-site Eagle Creek Campground. Approximately $33 reimbursement for each day served is provided.

Eagle Creek Campground is located 2 miles northeast of the town of Gardiner on Jardine Road and approximately 55 miles south of the city of Livingston along scenic HWY 89 S (paved, two-lane). At an elevation of 6100 feet, the campground overlooks Yellowstone National Park's majestic peaks. This 20-site campground has gravel roads with unpaved sites that accommodate a maximum of 48 foot RVs. The Yellowstone River Trailhead is located within this campground. Vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and horse corrals are provided to the public at this fee campground. Water and Electric is provided to host site only.

Ensuring that campers pay their fees is one of the host’s primary duties. Fees collected at the site pay for the host's utilities, water, site improvements, and law enforcement patrols. Campground hosts conduct both morning and evening checks to verify that campers have paid their fees and are abiding by vehicle limits and campground rules. The host records fee permit and license plate information that is submitted to the Forest Service to verify payment. Hosts request that visitors pay the fee when they have failed to do so. Hosts also inform visitors about general regulations including: food storage, quiet hours (10 p.m.-6 a.m.), parking, and leashing pets
