Friendly Visitor Volunteer

Department: Patient Care

Responsible to : Volunteer Coordinator

Works With: Patients and/or Their Families in the Cincinnati and Dayton Areas

Role

A friendly visitor is a compassionate soul who wants to serve the patient. Their presence and interaction supports the patient and family on their end of life journey. This flexible and person centered role allows for individual volunteers to bring their strengths and experiences to light, but no matter what their background the gift of their presence is of the most value.


Primary Responsibilities:

Compassionate presence for the patient and family, conversation and interaction

Assist patient in attending facility recreational activities if desired

Support patient on their end of life journey as needed

Potential to provide light housekeeping if a home patient, or other services

Secondary Responsibilities

Simple documentation of the visit, form provided, to be submitted to the Volunteer Coordinator

A successful applicant will show a positive attitude towards patient care and be comfortable around individuals facing an end of life journey


Time Commitment

One time a week, or once every other week is preferred, but availability is negotiable
