Our HANDmeUPs Thrift store is looking for volunteers to help with sorting, hanging, and organizing of clothing donations. We also look for volunteers interested in organizing our books, CD's, DVD's, linens, artwork, and wares sections.

Our mission is to provide employment for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. All volunteers need to be respectful and supportive of our employees. No previous experience with thrift store work required, just a positive attitude.

Minimum time commitment is 2 hours per week. Groups of up to 5 people can be accommodated. We are open 7 days a week and we will work with your schedule.

Check out our website for more information: https://www.handmeupsthrift.org/

About EngageNC

Location:

9650 Strickland Rd., Suite 103-122, Raleigh, NC 27615, US

Mission Statement

EngageNC’s Mission is to create jobs for adults with Autism/Intellectual Developmental Disabilites in the NC Triangle through community-focused employment innovations.

Description

EngageNC (formerly "The Power of the Dream") was founded in 2008 by a group of self-advocates and families in order to assist others in better understanding micro-enterprise and asset building. As the organization connected with more individuals, it was clear that many job seekers with Autism/IDD faced significant barriers to employment.

In 2013, EngageNC opened HANDmeUPs Thrift to provide direct employment opportunities and to demonstrate the value of employing adults with Autism/IDD. Over the years, EngageNC has continued to provide advice and resources to micro-entrepreneurs and businesses who are intentional about hiring adults with Autism/IDD.
