As a Day Center Assistant Volunteer you will assist with serving meals, washing dishes, assisting with food deliveries, and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining space.
This is an in-person role, averaging 4 hours per week. You determine your schedule; the hours range from Sunday to Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Closed on Holidays. Requested length of service: 3 months.
Volunteers will attend a 30-45-minute orientation where the Day Center Manager will give a brief tour of the space, answer questions, and go over safety measures. All volunteers are required to have a government issued ID (passport okay), and proof of covid 19 vaccination. Pictures of ID and vaccine can be emailed.

HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Description
HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
