About Binky Patrol:
We are an all-volunteer, national, non-profit organization making and distributing homemade blankets to children born HIV+, drug-addicted, infected with AIDS or other chronic & terminal illnesses, homeless, victims of violent crimes, those who are abused, in foster care, or experiencing trauma of any kind.
Our Recipients Are From 0 - 18 Economic demographics, race, social status play no role in the decision of who gets binkies. We simply check our local area shelters, hospitals, emergency foster care and other agencies to see who has the need we can help fill. We encourage our chapters to build local community by seeking the "invisible kids" near them. Those who have been forgotten, not been seen, not heard are the ones we seek to comfort. Children and teens may experience trauma when a parent or sibling is ill or has passed away. These children need binkies too - not just the ones in the hospital. They need a gift - a reminder - that they, too are loved and thought of by someone who cares.
You can change your community by starting a local chapter!
START A LOCAL CHAPTER IN OREGON:
We could have multiple chapters in a county! We definitely need at least one per county to help those who need binkies! You don't have to be crafty, just a bit organized and willing to speak to strangers about Binky Patrol, meet volunteers and coordinate deliveries.
Basic tasks:
- Answer email promptly (within two days)
- Answer the phone and have a voice mail message - not a robot message.
- Set up drop-off locations for your chapter's binkies - this can be churches, businesses, or homes.
- Create flyers and do social posts to help grow your volunteers.
- Research and coordinate with the local area shelters, clinics, and agencies that need the blankets.
- Fill out our quarterly reports online, so we know you are active - there are no quotas.
Our chapter leaders, "Area Coordinators," are ambassadors for our organization. You are welcome to contact any of our current chapters to see how they enjoy being a part of Binky Patrol.

Additional optional tasks:
- Secure donations to purchase materials.
- Host blanket-making events or partner with another chapter to host an event.
- Host regular Binky Patrol chapter meetings with your volunteers.
- Speak to local service organizations such as the Elks, Lions, Girl Scouts and more.
This is a great way to make friends with people of like-hearts! If you are new to an area, this is also a great way to get to know your community. We’ve had some Area Coordinators move to three different states - each time it was easier because they were able to immediately become part of the community through Binky Patrol.
This is a minimum of a year commitment. We will require that you have a phone number and an email address without a spam filter response listed on the website. We also require that you or your co-AC have access to a computer to interact on the website regularly. SmartPhones aren’t quite enough - you need to be able to log in to the full site and submit your quarterly chapter report online.
If you do start a local chapter, you will choose where your binkies are delivered to, keep track of binkies in/binkies out and keep National Headquarters updated with quarterly reports filed ONLINE.
There are no quotas for Binky Patrol. We feel that if you make and deliver even just a few blankets per year, you are still making a difference in your community!

Mission Statement
Binky Patrol is devoted to reaching out to needy children, including victims of violent crimes, drug-addicted, ill, homeless, neglected, abused, or children experiencing trauma in any way. Binky Patrol volunteers bring a caring, loving touch by creating and delivering handmade blankets, "binkies", to enrich the children's lives and to meet their most basic needs of warmth, security and comfort. Binky Patrol's unique way of touching a child's life includes many mediums. To reach them, "binkies" are distributed through hospitals, shelters, other service organizations, and social service agencies. "Binkies" are to be given as gifts and are not recycled in the agencies.
Description
Binky Patrol's volunteers as well as chapter leaders make blankets which can be crocheted, sewn, knitted, tied, and even quilted for ill and traumatized children.
