Food Pantry Helpers in Norwich, CT
A Norwich Senior Independent Living facility is in need of help for its in-house food pantry. Volunteers for this opportunity will help with unloading food deliveries, restocking the pantry, handing out food to residents, and occasionally delivering food to seniors with limited mobility.
The food pantry is the third Tuesday of each month in Norwich. Sign-up’s occur on a month to month basis. Helping out one month does not obligate you to participate in future months.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors!
Now more than ever community support is so important and impactful! The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) managed by TVCCA offers the support someone needs to remain living at home: either with grocery shopping needs, Meals on Wheels, friendly visiting, library media delivery, phone reassurance, medical rides, or helping host Veteran's Coffeehouses.
If you are 55+ contact us to hear how your help may improve the quality of life of an elderly or disabled person by volunteering around your schedule to help a neighbor in your community.
Benefits of Volunteering with Americorps Seniors!
- Flexibility: around your schedule
- Supplemental accident insurance provided free to every volunteer
- Mileage reimbursement for grocery shopping & medical rides
- Making a HUGE positive impact!
We are here to engage, enlighten, and inspire each other.

Healthy Futures: Aging In Place
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is The AmeriCorps Seniors Program managed by TVCCA. Now, more than ever, community support is so important and impactful. RSVP volunteers offer the support that someone needs to remain living at home; volunteers help with grocery shopping, deliver Meals on Wheels, visiting, phone reassurance, local medical rides, and library book delivery.
RSVP volunteers help host bi-monthly Veteran's Coffeehouses. The Coffeehouse’s mission is "to provide a comfortable location for ALL veterans-both men and women of any age-to meet, socialize, communicate and receive supported information regarding veterans benefits and services through state and federal agencies and programs."
Volunteers who are 55+ are matched with people who are 65+ (or disabled) and independently homebound, at no cost to the person who needs the service.
