The Organization:
At the Centre for Diverse Learners and Elevate Learning Centre, we are dedicated to championing neurodiversity and creating an inclusive society that celebrates the strengths of every individual's mind and ways of thinking. Our focus is on fostering understanding, empowering individuals, providing resources, programs and services, and advocating for policies that support the neurodiverse community and their families. We specifically focus on individuals who are diagnosed, undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, level 1 autism and mental health, social-emotional or executive functioning challenges that impact learning.
We are seeking to fill three (3) volunteer Board Director positions in the areas of Governance, Legal, Finance and Education.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who resonate with our mission and who can contribute their insights and expertise to our strategic decisions. While we value all applicants, we are especially interested in individuals who bring diverse perspectives and lived experiences with neurodivergence to our board, particularly those with backgrounds in finance, legal, governance and/or education. Board members are expected to attend monthly in-person meetings at our location in Burlington, ON. This is a volunteer position with a term of up to 3 years and renewable for an additional 3 years.

We Make a Meaningful Impact: As volunteer board members, we help shape the strategic direction of our organization and create real change in the lives of neurodiverse individuals and their families.
We Support Diversity and Inclusion: We are dedicated to being a board that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, and we're committed to fostering an environment where everyone's perspective is valued. If you have a background in the non-profit sector, special education, providing support to neurodiverse individuals, law, fundraising, accounting, or governance, your expertise is valuable. However, what truly matters is your passion, dedication, and commitment to our cause.
We Are A Collaborative Environment: Our board is a space where diverse voices come together to share ideas, perspectives, insights, and strategies.
We Value Yo ur Time: We require only a limited time commitment; approximately 8 hours per month and a 3-year (renewable) term. We periodically seek Board Directors to volunteer for time limited committees/working groups to support Board business and effective governance. We value your time and expertise and aim to ensure board members can balance our commitments effectively.
We believe that diverse minds drive innovation and change. Your unique perspective, whether through lived experience or professional expertise, will play a crucial role in guiding our organization's strategy and decisions. By joining us, you can help us better serve our community by bringing your insight, passion, and commitment to the table.
