Are you organized, flexible, and tech savvy? Would you like to be essential to initiating coordinated assistance during times of disaster? If you answered yes to these questions, then the role of Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer might be something that interests you.
DAT Duty Officers are the lynchpin that holds a Red Cross disaster response together. DAT Duty Officers receive notification from clients and agencies requesting assistance during a fire, flood, or other disaster. They assess the situation and determine eligibility, then deploy the most appropriate resources to provide immediate assistance and damage assessment, initiate recovery planning and health and wellness services.
The DAT Duty Officer ensures the response team has the tools, knowledge, and resources they need in order to deliver quality services, all while monitoring the situation and providing support from the comfort of their own home. We offer extensive training and mentorship from experienced volunteer leadership to set you up for success in this essential response role.
Our DAT Duty Officers are grouped by territory:
- Our "South" Duty Officers virtually support responses in the following counties: Santa Clara, Alameda, Merced, San Benito, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Mateo
- Our "North" Duty Officers support the following counties: Sonoma, Napa, San Francisco, Marin, Solano, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Contra Costa
