Since its i nception in 2014, the Celebrate! Maya Project continues to promote the life, contributions, and history of Dr. Angelou, and to research and document her global contributions to share with the state of Arkansas. Our interest in serving the Delta is in response to the decades-long studies that tell us the student populations in America’s Mississippi- Arkansas Delta regions are likely to be poorer and have far less access to quality education, health, and social services.

We’re raising $600,000 through 2025 to renovate a 92-year-old home in the Little Rock Central High School district to p rovide a learning and training environment for creative programming and fostering community connections. We are doing it all in the spirit of Maya Angelou, and your support can make this possible. Mission Statement

HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Description

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
