One in five people in Los Angeles County experiences food insecurity. Our vision at Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County. The Food Bank’s volunteer department engages more than 15,000 volunteers annually.
The Food Bank currently distributes food to more than 800,000 people each month. To reach these many people, the Food Bank relies on the support of volunteers who inspect, sort, and pack donated food before it goes out for distribution. As a Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Food Sorter/Packer you will help assemble food packages inside our distribution center for over 27,000 low-income seniors, women with infants, and children in Los Angeles County.
Volunteers are able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time with breaks in between (up to 3 hours). Comfortable completing repetitive tasks and working indoors. Hours are 4-8 hours a week for 4 months. Tuesday - Friday 9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 3:30 pm. Location: Industry, CA 90601.

Mission Statement
HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Description
HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
