Volunteer with Lakeshore Food Rescue
Lakeshore Food Rescue is a community-powered initiative of Community Action House, that aims to End Food Waste, Fight Hunger and Mobilize the Community. Our goal is to turn Excess Food into Food Access. We partner with food retailers, volunteer drivers and local non-profit partners to greatly reduce waste by making excess fresh, healthy food available to those who need it most.
Food Rescue Hero is a nationally-recognized technology platform and app that aims to address food insecurity and waste.
Through the Food Rescue Hero app, volunteers are notified when food rescue pick-ups are available. Volunteer as much or as little as you'd like, on your schedule. Or, sign up for a recurring route at the same time, same place each week. Our initial dispatch hours will be business hours Monday - Friday. Find out more about the "Food Rescue Hero" app at this link!

Description
Community Action House is a non-profit organization committed to nourish, equip and empower community members in the greater Holland, Michigan and surrounding Ottawa County area. For nearly 50 years, we've been serving the community helping families prosper- with food, clothing, education, opportunity, and hope. As a community powered nonprofit, we are what our community chooses to do together!
You can volunteer at our Food Club, helping local families achieve food security, at our Community Kitchen, serving up warm food and friendly faces everyday of the week, at our Resale Store, refurbishing used items to find new homes and support our programs, with our Lakeshore Food Rescue program, turning excess food into food access, or at the Holland Community Garden, working to grow food that goes directly to our neighbors.
