Join us for this limited time volunteer opportunity to help guests enjoy the Grand Rapids Lantern Festival here at John Ball Zoo!
We have opportunities for up to 4 individuals per night to help the zoo team with parking, all safety gear will be provided.
- Volunteers must be ages 18+.
- Shifts available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday nights from May 3rd - June 16th.
- 6:30 pm start time - 10:30 pm latest end time.
- Meet Zoo staff at Basket Ball Courts at start time for pre-shift meeting.
- Individuals must sign up with our online system to be registered to help and guarantee a spot
Volunteers are welcome to walk through the Lantern Festival for free after their parking shift!

Description
John Ball Zoo has been accredited by Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1983. Our accreditation is your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things. Through AZA we participate in 49 Species Survival Plans & 39 taxon advisory groups. We currently have over 220 species and 2,400 individual animals we care for daily.
John Ball Zoo is the 4th most attended cultural facility in Michigan, with a economic impact in our communities of $40 million. Annually the Zoo has over 600,000 visitors, and reaches over 800,000 individuals with wildlife and conservation messages. We are part of the nationally recognized program "Museums For All" to provide reduced price admission for qualified families across the state of Michigan.

- One 4 hour shift from 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm at the latest.
- Ages 18+, must be able to stay at assigned location during the shift. Bringing a water bottle is usually benificial but not required.
