Fall Creek Area Dispersed Camping Ambassador

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Fall Creek Area is an amazing location on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Southwest of the town of Jackson, the area is full of natural beauty. There are many hiking, biking, and motorcycle opportunities in this area as well as great wildlife viewing and dispersed camping. This area has seen an increase in pressure as people look for camping opportunities around Jackson. This location is near to Mosquito Creek, another popular dispersed camping and recreation area.

A dispersed camping ambassador will provide National Forest visitors with education, information and keeps an eye on overall conditions of the area. Typically, they perform patrols of the area on a UTV or a truck. During these patrols, they greet campers and provide them with information on how to camp responsibly: proper food storage in bear country, respecting stay limits, remembering to put out fires, pack out trash and dispose of human waste properly. Other duties include improving signage, checking fire-rings for abandoned campfires and communicating area-specific needs and issues to a Forest Service supervisor.

Reimbursements are provided by Friends of the Bridger-Teton through a Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board grant.
