ORGANIZATION: Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania

Goodwill of Southwestern PA is looking for individuals who enjoy helping others to make an impact in the adult learning community by assisting instructors in the Lawrenceville classroom, Goodwill Robert S. Foltz Building, 118 52nd Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. After going through our volunteer intake and onboarding procress, you would talk with the teacher, observe 1-2 classes, and then work with me, the Volunteer Coordinator to co-teach a small group and get comfortable. You'd receive lesson plans and the worksheets that you would share with your students. Having a background in English as a Second or Other Language teaching could help but isn't required. Having a background as a K-12 reading instructor could also certainly help, though not required. If you're interested, but do not have teaching experience, please still feel free to reach out. Volunteers must have their high school diploma or high school equivalency and a desire to help adult students achieve their educational goals! Postsecondary trainings and degrees are nice, but not a requirement as we will train you. Those interested can reply to this listing or if you have any questions, please contact Ashley Reilly, Education Volunteer Coordinator by text at 412-498-0412 or by email at ashley.reilly@goodwillswpa.org
