ORGANIZATION: Francis on the Hill
Please visit the new page to apply.
Load fresh, wholesome groceries into bags that will be given to hungry families. We pass bags around in an assembly line, filling up to 250 bags with up to 25 pounds of fresh, wholesome food. Bags usually include either eggs, meat or fish, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, bread, etc.
Some volunteers load bags into vehicles. Others break down cardboard boxes.
Pallet jack experience helpful or may be learned on the job. (Both manual and electric.)
The program began with the start of Covid with people out of work; the need continues.

Description
We are an all volunteer organization that currently gives out about 500 bags of donated wholesome groceries weekly to recipients in need of food in Meridian Hill Park and nearby. We beautify the Park with hanging flower baskets and daily, early morning trash pickup. We distribute free diapers monthly. Our newest project is gathering food and supplies to ship to Ukraine with the help of Ukrainian partners.
