ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Polk

  • 3 people are interested

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for a triage nurse holding a minimum of an Associate's Degree of Nursing (ADN) to take a thorough assessment of patients. This would include a comprehensive focused health summary of the chief complaint, history of the present illness, past medical history, family history, and social history. The triage nurse will review patients' charts, update and notate charts as needed, summarize the details of the patient interview for medical staff, perform follow-ups, and schedule appointments and testing needed.

A volunteer in this position has strong assessment and clinical skills, critical thinking skills, superior verbal and listening skills, and the ability to type and track information during the phone call. Significant experience with direct patient care is required. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine clinics are community based and provide free healthcare services to uninsured and medically underserved communities. LVIM is led by a few Watson Clinic physicians and the Watson Clinic Foundation and functions primarily by volunteers to meet the healthcare challenges of Lakeland's community in a different way.
