ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Polk

  • 15 people are interested

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is seeking medical records volunteers. Medical records volunteers will manage patient charts in the computer for new and existing patients. Additionally, a volunteer in this position will review and organize paperwork for categorization and eligibility requirements, scan and file patient paperwork, distribute patient documents to the appropriate areas, assist patients in completing patient authorization for release of records, and handle phone messages.

Medical records volunteers possess analytical thinking skills, accurate data entry skills, and proficiency in computer and phone use. Being detail oriented and organized is a must and volunteers must be comfortable working independently. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with Intergy are helpful but not required. This position does involve excessive sitting time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine clinics are community based and provide free healthcare services to uninsured and medically underserved communities. LVIM is led by a few Watson Clinic physicians and the Watson Clinic Foundation and functions primarily by volunteers to meet the healthcare challenges of Lakeland's community in a different way.
