Become a Volunteer Liaison!

Are you passionate about the mission of Second Harvest Food Bank? Do you love speaking and networking with different groups of people? Then maybe our Volunteer Liaison program would be a great place for you to volunteer!

This is a fantastic opportunity for charismatic and engaging individuals to become an ambassador for Second Harvest at our location in North San Jose (Cypress Center) when volunteers arrive to sort food. You will provide vital information about hunger in wealthy Silicon Valley and what Second Harvest is doing about the issue. You will also be the "face of the food bank" and provide a positive experience for our volunteers who donate their precious time to help in the fight against local hunger. Our Volunteer Services department will provide training and support for your volunteer role.

Responsibilities

· Represent Second Harvest at North San Jose

· Help volunteers get checked in and ready to volunteer

· Raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our community

· Educate and inspire our community about how to get involved

· Maintain an understanding of the history, mission, and impact of Second Harvest

· May also provide some "back end" support in our Salesforce database to ensure that our volunteers’ time is properly tracked

· Have fun!

Qualifications

· Be comfortable speaking in front of people

· Be able to communicate effectively

· Have a willingness to learn information about Second Harvest and hunger in Silicon Valley

· Be timely and dependable

· Maintain positive attitude

· Believe in the importance of the mission of Second Harvest

Time Commitment

You can schedule your liaison activity in advance in a time that works in your schedule. We normally have food sort shifts Monday through Friday in the morning and afternoon, with some evenings and Saturdays.
