Type: Part-time Unpaid Internship (10-20 hours per week)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Remote Public Health Research & Project Management Intern to join our team. This role will support the Vice President and Executive Director in conducting public health research and managing health and wellness projects. The intern will work on diverse tasks, from data analysis and content creation to project management and stakeholder communication, gaining hands-on experience in a mission-driven, public health-focused organization.
Students will have the opportunity to work with our Director of Media Dumisani Maraire by recording live discussions on Public Health topics on a biweekly basis. Dumisani Maraire is an esteemed celebrity Event Photographer and Videographer based in the vibrant heart of Hollywood, California. Through his collaborations with Love Heals the World and Red Carpet Series, a premier event photography and videography company in Los Angeles, he specializes in capturing red carpet interviews and providing event photography stills. Dumisani has had the privilege of working with some of the brightest stars, including Snoop Dogg, Akon, Paris Hilton, Tiffany Haddish, and Jimmy Kimmel, among many others. Step into his lens and explore the dynamic world of celebrity photography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Public Health Research: Conduct research to understand environmental, genetic, and social health determinants that influence population health. Analyze population samples using biological factors, biostatistics, epidemiology, and genetics. Compare the organization, structure, and function of health care, public health, and regulatory systems across national and international settings.
- Data Analysis: Describe the functioning of software needs related to public health data, propose innovative solutions, and communicate findings through professional presentations and reports.
- Content Creation: Write healthcare content, including concise research, technical information, and optimized SEO content. Ensure information is accessible to our target audience.
- Leadership: Assume a leadership role in planning and managing projects, including survey design, data collection, team coordination, and periodic meetings.
- Strategy Development: Analyze existing strategies, identify areas for improvement, and develop innovative strategies related to public health research, product development, or marketing.
- Project Management: Oversee departmental operations, student recruitment, training, and the organization chart using advanced software suites (e.g., Slack, Hubspot, Monday, G-Suite, Clockify).
- Program Evaluation: Assist with evaluating health and wellness programs, clinical reports, and business processes. Develop optimization strategies and solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Influence stakeholders, determine solutions, conduct meetings and presentations, document results, and perform requirements analysis. Develop strategies to build coalitions and partnerships for influencing public health outcomes.

- SEO Content Focus: Interns will gain hands-on experience writing healthcare content that is accessible to diverse audiences while learning SEO optimization techniques to enhance online reach and impact.

- Communicate effectively and make professional presentations.
- Practice writing skills in professional reports and papers.

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Public Health, Communications, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Genuine passion for public health, plant-based lifestyles, and promoting healthier lifestyles.
- Self-starter who is highly motivated and proactive.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, research, and analytical skills.
- Competency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and advanced project management technology.
- Ability to work independently and with teams/mentors/colleagues.

Our world is becoming increasingly dependent on the use of technology. The Assuaged Foundation has a responsibility to help our students become familiar with and comfortable using technology in their everyday lives. In addition to this, students enjoy technology; it is fun and exciting. Using a technology-focused approach to raise awareness around public health matters via social media, SEO content curation, and public speaking through active live discussions will help get even the most reticent student interested and excited about enhancing their skillsets through the use technology. If a student is actively engaged in the learning process, greater social awareness and academic gains are seen. It has been found that in using remote technologies students have shown significant growth in social media, public speaking, and writing proficiency.
