ORGANIZATION: Family Literacy Center

This is a fun opportunity for you if you like to work with younger children and their parents. At these workshops and programs, families attend and participate in fun activities. You may read a book, play with Legos, sing songs, march, make a craft, hand out snacks, help kids pick out books, and much more. You have the chance to help parents make connections and have fun with their kids. You may also assist at child tutoring programs setting up, cleaning up, handing out books or snack and more.
All volunteers must provide references and pass a background check.
Volunteers with teaching, parenting, or childcare experience are encouraged to apply.
Sessions are usually 60-180 minutes in length. Workshops are held throughout the year.

Description

We are a nonpofit agency serving the Lapeer County area since 1980 and help families reach important literacy goals. We offer skill-building workshops for parents, one-on-one tutoring for adults and a broad range of family literacy programs and activities. Most of our adult students want to earn their GED.
