We have a brand new volunteer opportunity that has opened up at the Red Cross! We are now looking for volunteers to work in our blood lab. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in a medical environment, specifically, a blood lab. We are currently seeking one or more individuals to fill the role of Blood Services Supply Chain Component Assistant.
The role of Blood Service Supply Chain Component Assistant will entail processing blood products after the units have been received from the donors. The volunteer will be working in a laboratory and will be processing and storing blood products. They will need to comply with all safety policies and procedures and use the provided protective equipment. They will also be maintaining both manual and computer records associated with blood production or testing. Minimum qualifications are:
- Ability to use/learn a wide variety of lab or medical equipment.
- Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Good communication skills.
If you are interested in gaining valuable skills while supporting life-saving blood collection, email Julie Schwartz for a personal interview.
