Seeking an expert in Mycology who also likes youth

Who we are: The Green Crew ( GreenCrew.club ) is a youth-inspired and youth-led new environmental action program of the Izaak Walton League MN Valley Chapter in association with the Boy Scouts of America, Northern Star Council. The Green Crew youth members design, plan, organize, implement environmentally-impactful projects. We launched at the beginning of this month.

What we are doing : One of our founding youth members has identified their interest in leading a project to document the diversity and distribution of fungi in association with the Fungal Diversity Survey ( fundgis.org ). Initially, this project would train Crew members to lead regular surveys on the IWLA-MN Valley and adjacent USFWS property. The goal would be to replicate this project at IWLA sponsored Green Crews throughout the state and nationally.

What we are looking for : We are looking for knowledgeable individuals to support this project in the following ways:

• Associate Advisor : An Associate Advisor provides direct mentorship and support to the youth leader of a Green Crew. Associate Advisors are trained and supported by the Green Crew's leadership team. For this project, an associate advisor with a passion for youth leadership development, mycology, and project-based learning would be ideal. Associate Advisors are key coaches and cheerleaders. Associate Advisors minimum commitment is 6-8 hours per month.
• Consultant : Project consultants provide targeted expertise to the design, development, and implementation of a youth lead project. For this project, we would be seeking consultants with expertise in citizen science projects and/or mycology. A Consultant's time commitment is entirely up to their availability.
