Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting coordination between the Red Cross and MTF, building a sustainable volunteer team of both licensed and non-licensed volunteers to work within the MTF and serve as a leader for the volunteers and our military partners.

Responsibilities

    • Supports and acts on behalf of the local Red Cross
    • Ensure all potential MTF volunteers are registered with the local Red Cross unit, receive training on base, are assisted with placement, and receive information on volunteer opportunities with the Regional Red Cross office.
    • Act as liaison between the MTF and the local Red Cross
    • Promote the recruitment of volunteers and donations of material resources in accordance with facility needs
    • Attend and participate in meetings as needed
    • Facilitate volunteer placement in coordination with the MTF Program Manager and workplace supervisor and assist MTF staff when an affiliated volunteer must be removed for cause
    • Maintain records and submit reports as required by the Red Cross

Time Commitment

    • 8-10 hours weekly, spread out over 2+ days per week. - In-Person
    • Some flexibility is required.
    • Volunteering options are Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
    • COVID Vaccination Required (Fully, 2 weeks after 2nd dose)

Qualifications

    • Military base access is a plus for Ft Meade, Ft Belvoir, and Quantico
    • Military base access required for 436 Medical Group, Dover
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Must be a permanent resident or US citizen
    • Broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service
    • Successfully achieve a Red Cross background check
    • Basic computer and organizational skills
    • Ability to communicate and work with other leaders in a management team relationship
    • Ability to show initiative and work independently
    • Program management experience is a plus but not required
    • Must be able to achieve a successful MTF check/security badging check if required

Volunteers applying for in-person position assignments must be fully vaccinated. Instructions, on providing information and supporting documentation of vaccination will be provided once you submit your application.
