Youth Mentor Overview:
StandUp for Kids Tucson is looking for mentors to support underserved and at-risk youth in our community.
Key Responsibilities:- Establishing relationships with young people through one-on-one mentoring in our outreach center and local schools
- Providing guidance and support to help young people develop life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making
- Assisting with academic achievement and setting academic goals
- Encouraging and promoting positive behavior and attitudes among young people
- Working with families, schools, and other community organizations to support at-risk youth
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with young people
- A passion for helping underserved and at-risk youth in the Tucson community
- Must be at least 24 years of age and be able to commit 2 hours every other week
- Experience working with young people in a mentoring or counseling role
- Understanding of adolescent development and challenges facing young people today
- Training in social work, psychology, education or related field
