Inspire Connections Outdoors!
Volunteer to get urban kids into nature!
As an ICO volunteer, you introduce the natural outdoors to children and youth from communities with limited access to it. You connect and reconnect them to nature for the benefit of both.
The Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) community-outreach program helps create the next generation of environmental justice and social justice leaders through building community and increasing exposure to outdoor recreation, advocacy, and leadership training.
With agency partners, you lead group outings to
- Improve kids’ health and well-being.
- Create more friends of the earth.
- Show them a new world view.
Make a Difference . . . Empower local young people to enjoy their natural birthright--access to public lands and parks where they can
- Bond with nature’s wonders
- Be curious and creative
- Manage stress
- Learn to "Leave No Trace"

Mission Statement
Las Vegas ICO--Inspiring Connections Outdoors introduces urban youth to the natural outdoor world so that they may forge a meaningful bond with nature and learn to appreciate its wonder and understand the need to protect it.
Description
Las Vegas ICO--Inspiring Connections Outdoors, is a volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club, provides nature outings and wilderness experiences for underserved urban youth in the Las Vegas area. Volunteer leaders work in cooperation with community agencies and schools to provide safe and enjoyable outdoor experiences to young people who, otherwise, might not have them. ICO is seeking volunteer hike leaders as diverse as the youth we serve. We are also seeking members of the support team for leaders, including managing paperwork and recruitment of leaders among people of color representative of our typical youth participants. At this time we are preparing to restart post-Covid precautions as local conditions improve.
