Have you ever wanted to do something AMAZING to change the world but didn't know where to start ?
Here is an opportunity to join the American Youth Literacy Foundation, an all- volunteer 501 c 3 charitable non-profit organization, founded in 2008 and dedicated to creating a future in which all children, in every classroom in America, learn how to read by the end of 3rd grade. Our mission is to save millions of children from a lifetime of illiteracy and bring about true educational equity in just a few years’ time by making parents, kids, teachers and tutors aware of the 100% FREE, FUNetix 12 Hour Reading App.
With the FUNetix app, ANY child can learn how to read in just 12 hours, just by playing the app; and in America’s public schools today, there are millions of children who can’t read or are struggling to read, which has led to more than 20 million illiterate high school dropouts over the past 20 years. But it doesn’t have to be this way!
We started in 2008 by taking a groundbreaking, science-based curriculum and proving that it can scale to reach and help thousands of children. Then, in 2020, during the pandemic, we created an app, based on our patented reading curriculum, that takes kids from the ABC's to a 2nd grade reading level through an amazing treasure hunt that's fully narrated, tastefully animated, and gamified just enough, to create an immersive, interactive environment that captures kids' attention and imagination and launches them to literacy in a fast, easy, fun way.
Our mission is to bring the app to millions of children in the next year who are either just learning how to read or who are struggling with reading.
We are looking to expand our incredible Team FUNetix with new Community Outreach Team Members , namely high school students willing to engage with their local communities in ways such as printing and placing flyers around town telling parents, teachers, kids, and anyone who's interested, that FUNetix can teach ANY child how to read in 12 hours, for FREE!
Our Community Outreach Team members are individuals with diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests and talents; but most of all, they are individuals who have a willingness and enthusiasm for reaching out into their communities to help children who can't read.
The ideal Community Outreach high school volunteers are enthusiastic, responsible, caring and motivated, and have perhaps seen the challenges of illiteracy, low literacy and low education that are plaguing many of our communities, and are willing to both talk to and listen to people as they post flyers and build public awareness of the FUNetix app among families with children in need.
We are also always looking for new ideas and new ways to spread awareness in the community, which may include participating in street fairs or other events where parents and kids gather to hand out information and simple swag like balloons or silicone wristbands. In addition, some high schoolers may want to become reading tutors or reading mentors and actually work with students as they go through the app and learn how to read. Ask us for more information about that.
We have had hundreds of amazing high school volunteers over the years. We give credit for hours served and this is a great opportunity to bump up your resume with meaningful volunteer experience. The best candidates need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this exciting and important role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player. Even though it is locally based, all communication is virtual via slack, zoom and utilizing google shared folders.
We are eliminating illiteracy in America in the next few years with the most AMAZING app in the world: FUNetix! If you want to be a part of helping millions of children access education and their true potential through literacy, and if this sounds like something that you have the time for and interest in, and would like to be a part of our team, then please reply to this listing and tell us about yourself.
We look forward to hearing from you and speaking with you about a renewed sense of hope for the future of literacy and education in America.
You can read more about our story, and about our team, on our website at www.FUNetix.org .

Description
FUNetix is a patented, science-based, and incredibly simplified way of teaching reading to children that's available to parents and children anywhere in the United States and anywhere in the world. The FUNetix 12 hours Reading App is available in the App Store, Google Play store and Amazon App store.
FUNetix is 19-years-new, but in some ways, it is more than 2,000 years old.
Indeed, the patented FUNetix Reading Decoding System is rooted in an ancient methodology that shows readers how to see the hidden sounds in every word.
FUNetix earned its patent by borrowing the time-tested method called "diacritics" (which was developed more than 2,000 years ago by the Greeks, and adopted more than 1,000 years ago by the Hebrew and Arabic languages, to teach ALL children how to read those languages), and uniquely, completely and systematically applying it to English in a child-friendly and simple way.
FUNetix teaches children how to "map" or "marry" all 44 sounds of the English language to the letters and letter combinations that make up English words. This mapping (made easy by diacritics) takes all of the guesswork out of "sounding out" words.
