Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity where you can make a meaningful impact? North Memorial Hospital Robbinsdale is seeking compassionate and reliable Discharge Volunteers to assist patients as they transition from hospital to home.

About the Role: As a Discharge Volunteer, you will provide essential support to patients during their discharge process, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience. Your presence will help create a positive environment as patients leave the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the safe transfer of patients from their beds to wheelchairs and from wheelchairs to their vehicles.
Sanitize and maintain the discharge area, ensuring it is tidy and stocked with necessary supplies.
Communicate effectively with patients and team members, using the AIDET framework for all interactions.
Ensure patient confidentiality and practice proper infection control measures.
Help with logistical tasks, such as rounding up wheelchairs and answering discharge-related phone calls.

What We’re Looking For:

Friendly and personable demeanor, with the ability to interact positively with patients, team members, and the public.
Dependable, self-motivated, and responsible individuals who can work independently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to read, write, and speak English effectively for safety and exceptional customer care.
Comfort in moving about the hospital and maintaining appropriate boundaries with patients.
Physical ability to assist with wheelchair transport and stand or walk for extended periods.
